Life....without a head.

Have you heard the one about the chicken running around alive after getting it's head chopped off? It's true!

A chicken can continue to live after being beheaded. The chicken's brain stem, which controls vital functions such as: breathing, heart-rate, and reflexes, remains intact allowing the bird to live; and not just for a short period of time either.

In fact, one chicken named Mike lived an amazing 18 months after losing his head. Using an eyedropper, his owner fed him watered down milk and small grains of corn. Mike started choking one night and because his owner could not find the eyedropper to clear his esophagus, he died. You can read the full story here: http://www.miketheheadlesschicken.org/ RIP Mike :(
