I think teens can have control over what's cool, but at times they can not. Teenagers are all about peer pressure. They will feel uncool if they are not wearing the latest trends and fashion. Teenagers can have an opinion on what they think is cool, even if it may or may not go against "what's in." There are some teenagers who do not care about the latest styles and create their own unique style and those teenagers have made a choice about what's cool. Ultimately, their choice was to do the "uncool" thing and make it cool. I do believe that corporate interests exploit teens and their parents, but you can't blame them. So I guess I'm half and half on this question also. The purpose of "cool hunting" is to increase profit, so who can blame someone who wants to make money? I don't. Money goes 360 worldwide and it always will.
